The onshore chemical and major hazard sectors need to continually strive to provide assurance that risks are being adequately controlled. HSE has launched a national initiative to encourage the implementation of process safety performance indicators, to share good practice and to provide information which can be used to identify common and underlying causes of incidents and events. This site provides a forum through which companies can exchange ideas, provides guidance on the establishment of performance measures and provides for on-line sharing of information on incidents and events.

See the 'Getting Started' document under the 'Introduction' link for information on how to navigate around and use the web site. You can:
  • download guidance and examples of performance measures
  • add your own examples
  • get information on lessons learnt and underlying causes of loss of containment incidents
