The whole interruption of competence whether of a company or individual is
now completely out of hand and as scandalous as some think the MP' s
expenses.
I have tried several times to raise interest in the=is topic on this forum
but been quietly shut up.
This is a major problem and safety professional should not acquiesce to it.
It gradually undermines the safety culture to which we aspire. IOSH seem to
pay scant attention and the best effort at present is with the SIIP but even
then I believe that commercial interests will out weigh safety
considerations.

CDM was intended to reduce bureaucracy, and valueless paper work. Reduce the
need for unnecessary method statements etc for routine work done to
recognised methods by competent persons.

The most hazardous activity most of us are involved in is driving yet we do
not prepared written risk assessments or method statements we rely on
competence and long acceptable standards (not that this could not be
improved but I put it an example of relying on competent people NOT
paperwork.
Lets save lives AND the environment)
A very frustrated safety professional hitting his head against bureaucratic
systems - often devised and abetted by other safety personae
