A questionnaire mainly aimed at contractors and health and safety site managers was run over December 2008 to January 2009 to gauge the effectiveness of the project so far, generating 152 responses. An impressive 83% of respondents thought workers had a better understanding of the health issues and 87% thought that managers are now better informed. These results are complemented by nearly three quarters believing water suppression is more widely used. Equally impressive figures indicate better training and enforcement of good practice (Project questionnaire 2009).

The working group met on the 4th March 2009 to discuss the projects progress. To build on the very positive feedback as highlighted by the questionnaire more specific information is being sought. Members were informed that in 2009/2010 HSE construction inspectors are being instructed to look at kerb, paving and block cutting as an area of priority for next years work when inspecting sites ( 2nd working group evaluation meeting).
