Licence Conditions

Summary of the Standard Conditions of an Adventure Activities Licence

1. The licence holder shall maintain such arrangements as are necessary for the effective implementation, control, monitoring and review of the measures necessary to ensure safety, so far as is reasonably practicable.

2. The licence holder shall maintain suitable and sufficient arrangements for:

i) the appointment, where appropriate, of a sufficient number of competent and adequately qualified instructors;

ii) the giving of safety Information where appropriate to instructors and participants;

iii) the provision of such equipment as is needed to ensure that the activities are carried out safely, and for the maintenance of that equipment in an efficient state and in good repair; and

iv) the provision of first-aid facilities, and procedures for otherwise dealing with an incident or emergency including the summoning of medical and rescue services where necessary.

3. The licence holder shall ensure that they are advised by competent persons on safety matters unless competent to do so themselves.

4. The licence holder shall maintain such arrangements as are appropriate for the review of the assessment of the risks to safety of the young persons and other persons who are, or will be engaged in the adventure activities to which the licence relates.

5. The licence or copy thereof, shall be displayed at the above named activity centre when facilities for adventure activities are provided at, or from this centre, on two or more consecutive days.

6. Where facilities for adventure activities are provided other than at, or from, an activity centre, the licence should be made available for inspection at any reasonable time.

7. The licence holder shall allow the authority and any persons authorised on its behalf to inspect at any reasonable time, any place or equipment used in, or in connection with, the provision of facilities for adventure activities to which the licence relates and any documents held by, or on behalf of the licence holder relating to such provision.

8. The licence holder shall respond to any reasonable request from, and provide the necessary information to, the authority or persons authorised to act on its behalf relating to the provision of facilities for adventure activities.

9. The holding of a licence may only be referred to in any advertising or other information issued by, or on behalf of, the licence holder where it refers to the specific centre/provider that has been licensed.

10. The licence holder shall obtain approval from the Adventure Activity Licensing Authority before offering any additional adventure activity that falls within the remit of the Adventure Activities Licensing Regulations.
