Update on the future of the AALA - September 2016

Update on the future of AALA

After careful consideration the government has concluded that for now the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) should remain as the AALA overseen by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

DWP has asked the HSE to carry out a review of the delivery and scope of AALA, working with the Devolved Administrations, Cabinet Office , Department for Culture Media and Sport and the industry. The review will commence later this year and further details on how to engage, with the review, will be provided in due course.

All providers

There are no changes to the licensing arrangements at this time so it is ‘business as usual’ for adventure activity providers. Providers of activities in scope of the current arrangements must still hold a valid licence..

Information for users

If you are planning to use a provider offering activities within scope, you should still check they hold a valid licence.
