Dear Biocides active substances web community member The EU Commission is convening a meeting of the Standing Committee on Biocidal Products (SCBP) on 12 May to vote on the approval of six active substances, as follows: Active chlorine released from sodium hypochlorite, for use in Product type 1,2,3,4 and 5 biocidal products - A disinfectant for food and feed areas and drinking water; for use in human and veterinary hygiene; and for uses not intended to come into contact with humans or animals; Active chlorine released from calcium hypochlorite, for use in Product type 2,3,4 and 5 biocidal products - A disinfectant for food and feed areas and drinking water; for use in veterinary hygiene; and for uses not intended to come into contact with humans or animals; Active chlorine released from chlorine, for use in Product type 2 and 5 biocidal products - A disinfectant for use in veterinary hygiene; and for uses not intended to come into contact with humans or animals; Peracetic acid generated from tetraacetylethylenediamine and sodium percarbonate, for use in Product type 2,3 and 4 biocidal products - A disinfectant for food and feed areas and drinking water; and for use in veterinary hygiene; 2-octyl-isothiazol-3(2H)-one (OIT), for use in Product type 8 biocidal products - wood preservatives; 2-methylisothiazol-3(2H)-one (MIT), for use in Product type 11 biocidal products - A preservative for liquid-cooling and processing systems.
